Our first year at Donington Park brought a whole new aspect to Secret Meet, transforming a previously static event into a full day of dynamic eye and ear candy. The weather wasn’t exactly kind, but the turnout and enthusiasm from members was incredible. To mark this evolution of Secret Meet, we wanted to put on a really special spectacle, and the 110th anniversary of Bugatti offered the perfect opportunity.
For the now obligatory hypercar parade, a group of Bugattis you’re never likely to see together again headed up the pack including the brand’s original hypercar, the EB110, through to the groundbreaking Veyron (including Super Sport World Record Edition) and the latest Chiron — a once-in-a-lifetime gathering to celebrate the ultimate automotive brand.
2020 had a rocky start after Covid lockdowns delayed our original date, but the stars aligned later in the year and Secret Meet went ahead with an unbelievable turnout of members eager to get back out in their cars and catch up with likeminded friends after months being couped up inside.
This year’s celebration marked 25 years of the Ferrari F50, as close as Maranello ever came to building a Formula 1 car for the road, with a naturally-aspirated V12 bolted straight to the chassis sending every vibration up your back. Cars in all colours from the classic red to yellow, black and even silver came together for a display and parade accompanied by the F50’s epic V12 soundtrack.
2021 celebrated a car so many of our members are fond of, one of the ultimate ‘90s poster cars — the Lamborghini Diablo. Whilst 2021 was technically 31 years after the iconic Countach’s replacement was released, those 30-plus years need to be celebrated, and the year also marked 20 years since the Diablo was replaced by the Murcielago.
Several Diablos including SVs and one of the latest VT models nestled themselves amongst the hypercar parade for a spectacle that took us ‘90s kids straight back to childhood.
If there’s one brand the entire world thinks of when they hear the word supercar, or see something low-slung and red, it’s Ferrari, and we like to celebrate them at any opportunity we can. The brand’s 75th anniversary was such an opportunity, and to celebrate, we brought together an unbelievable gathering of ‘F cars’ — Ferrari’s flagship models.
From the 288 GTO to F40, F50, Enzo, LaFerrari, every F car was well represented in a sight I can still hardly believe just looking back at the photographs! There was a particularly strong showing of F40s since this 75 years of Ferrari coincided with 35 years of the F40.
2023 was finally the year for the Porsche enthusiasts, marking 20 years of the brand’s iconic V10 hypercar, the Carrera GT. It was a strange one for me as I remember the car being released and tested on Top Gear as a child, and it became my hero car ever since.
Known as one of the greatest sounding cars of all time, a full gang of CGTs coming down Donington’s pit straight one after the other was quite something!
